Anthony Downey

Dr Anthony Downey is Professor of Visual Culture in the Middle East and North Africa, and his research and teaching focuses on visual culture and practice-based research in the Global South, digital methodologies, computer vision and AI, and post-disciplinary knowledge production. He is currently the Cultural and Commissioning Lead on the five-year Disability Under Siege project (2020-2025), where his research focuses on the expansion of educational and cultural provision for people with disabilities in Lebanon, the occupied Palestinian territories, and Jordan. He is an editor at Third Text, Digital War, and Memory, Mind & Media. He also founded and is editor of Sternberg Press’s Research/Practice book series.
